The Parish of St Margaret’s, Rottingdean included the West Saltdean area. The East Saltdean area was part of the St Laurence, Telscombe Village Parish.
This remained the case until December 1963 when East Saltdean was included in the Parish of St Margarets' Rottingdean. St Nicholas Church served residents in Saltdean.
Saltdean became a Parish of its own by Royal Consent in May 1969.
