Our Services Explained - Holy Communion

Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper or the Mass) is celebrated on Sundays and Tuesdays at St Nicholas. In this service:

  • We gather as the church, the body of Christ
  • We listen to God’s word
  • We give thanks over bread and wine for all that Jesus has done and continues to do for us and remember the meal Jesus shared with his disciples on the night before he died
  • We are sent out to serve God’s word

On Sundays there is a Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion at 08.00am. This service is held in the Lady Chapel (the small room to the left as you enter St Nicholas), and is a lovely way to start your Sunday. The service lasts around 35 minutes.  At 10.30am the main Sunday Worship is called the Parish Eucharist. This service includes hymns and on special occasions other activities will take place. Check our calender for details of what is on soon. The Parish Eucharist lasts an hour and on the first Sunday of every month you can join us in the Church hall for refreshments - a great way to meet new friends.
